They haven't shown themselves to be able to balance 10 classes and now they want to add races to it.
There is no roll-eyes emoticon big enough to express my view of that decision...

wow I really can't believe this is happening lol....
It makes me not wanna play anymore. I had quite a few long term goals for my char *People Know Me* for one and knowing that in year or two (or even three) gw is gonna stop forever takes away all the motivation I had,,, I mean why put in 1000's of hours to do this if when I eventually get its gonna be taken away?
and for all the people wanting their chars to go over to GW2, its HUNDREDS of years later,, its not gonna happen

You'd have thought that PC Gamer would have said something already if they have access to info previous to any announcements/press releases... Going on the 6 months per campaign theory we should be due a new release soon, but this looks kinda rushed IMO - ANet seem to care about the game and less about grabbing cash from players, which doesn't seem to be the case here. 2 years for new content? No thankyou. :/

Umm
Plausible things.
The Name
The storyline
Release Date
Armor Sets
Heroes.
GW 2 in 09/10
Might be true
18 Dungeons(missions?)
Doubtful
Last GW for 2 years.
Expansion pack format.
Number of Skills
It does sound kinda cool. But I really hope there is a big change in game mechanics. IF it is the last new big content for 2 years then I can see pretty much the entire game's population leaving and finding something else to do.
Now, what they may do is to release SF like expansions every 3-4 months which may help, but with so many MMO's about to be released competition would be fierce.
I guess wait and see, and trust no one is the order of the day.

Wow, at first I thought Anet would probably hold off on commenting for a while; but with people starting to say they're no longer motivated to play this is starting to sound like a major community relations nightmare for Anet that could force their hand......

Expansion? No new campaigns? I read this as the end of days for Guildwars.

Finally, news! It surely gives me a lot to think about and look forward to. Thx ANet!
I share the concern about WoW-likeness and monthly fees tho, but hey, so far the ANet guys never disappointed me. And a game has to change concept from time to time i guess to keep players busy.
A shame tho Eye of the North comes in Q3 and not in April, like I hoped.

I can see GW2 being PvE only (or almost PvE only), as there's no need for Races in PvP. If that's true, then almost everyone I know will quit, and not buy GW2... races are for WoW, please keep them there

^ they won't. Lineage did not erase any user data from their servers when Lineage 2 was released.
"40 new armor sets" - there's 10 professions, so 4 new armor sets per profession is not bad at all.
"150 new skills, 50 of which PvE" - they had taken a leaf out of our book about having some skills reserved for PvE only. And its a huge improvement compared to only 2 PvE skills in NF(excluding the Junundu's).
"18 new multi-level dungeon" - this is perhaps the most interesting part. I hope when they meant dungeon, it means the size of 1 dungeon = whole of RoT. Bear in mind, that the article is stressing that Ch4 is geared towards end-game characters, I think and hope it will bring some challenges to the current gameplay.
I'm okay with the wait of 2 years, so long I got something to interest me during the wait, such as new maps, weapons, armors...

I'm not really worry about GW2 but I would like to know what Ch4 will do to try and bring back people who left the game. More of the same contents will not go down well, and will they or won't they address all the bad issues that happen in GW at the moment. Have to wait and see, I guess.

Yeah this new expansion sounds a lot more geared towards PVE. What about PVP? They get 100 new skills? woot? Hopefully theres more to this expansion rather than all PVE...

I guess 4 new sets of armor for each of the existing professions sounds in-theme, yet the idea of 50 pve-only skills astounds me. Isn't GW supposed to have a strong PvP fanbase?

In order to play the game, gamers must own at least one of the already released GW campaigns, like Nightfall, Factions or Prophecies.

Sorry, but if this is set north of Tyria and post-charr invasion, wouldn't it make sense for it to be Prophecies-only if you're going to limit it that way?
While the article begins by saying "NCsoft has announced..." I can't see anything on the NCsoft official website (http://www.ncsoft.com/) about this. Wouldn't they have something up by now?
